Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
AppFence ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Zetavyn Labs LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how AppFence collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Android application.
Information We Collect
AppFence is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our service.
- App Usage Data: AppFence monitors which apps are installed and running on the device where it is installed. This data is stored locally on the device and is NOT transmitted to our servers.
- PIN / Password: Your authentication credentials are encrypted with AES-256 and stored locally on the device using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences. We never have access to your PIN or password.
- Blocklist: The list of blocked apps is stored locally on the device. We do not have access to this data.
- Install History: Records of app installations are stored locally on the device for your review. This data is NOT sent to any server.
- Email Address (Pro users only): If you subscribe to AppFence Pro via Stripe, we collect your email address solely for the purpose of verifying your subscription status. This email is stored locally on the device and is checked against Stripe's records.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do NOT collect personal information, contacts, messages, call logs, or photos.
- We do NOT track your location or GPS data.
- We do NOT read, store, or transmit the content of any apps.
- We do NOT collect browsing history or web activity.
- We do NOT share any data with third parties for advertising purposes.
- We do NOT use analytics SDKs or tracking pixels.
How Data is Stored
All data generated by AppFence is stored locally on the device where the app is installed. Sensitive data (PIN/password) is encrypted using AES-256-GCM via Android's security-crypto library. No data is transmitted to external servers except for subscription verification requests to our secure API endpoint.
Subscription Verification
When you subscribe to AppFence Pro, a verification request containing only your email address is sent to our secure API endpoint (app-fence.com/api/verify) over HTTPS. This endpoint communicates with Stripe to confirm your subscription status. No other data is transmitted.
Permissions
AppFence requests the following Android permissions:
- Usage Access: To detect which app is currently running in the foreground, enabling the app blocking feature.
- Display Over Other Apps: To show the block screen when a blocked app is launched.
- Notifications: To alert you when new apps are installed on the device.
- Query All Packages: To list all installed apps so you can choose which ones to block.
- Boot Completed: To restart the monitoring service after the device restarts.
- Foreground Service: To continuously monitor running apps in the background.
- Device Admin (optional, Pro): To prevent uninstallation of AppFence by the device user.
Third-Party Services
AppFence uses the following third-party service:
- Stripe: For processing Pro subscription payments. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy. We do not store credit card information — all payment processing is handled directly by Stripe.
Children's Privacy
AppFence is a parental control tool designed to be installed on a child's device by their parent or legal guardian. The app does not collect personal information from children. All settings and data are managed by the parent through the PIN/password-protected interface.
Data Retention
All data is stored locally on the device. When you uninstall AppFence or use the "Reset All Data" feature, all stored data is permanently deleted. We retain no server-side data about your device or usage.
Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Authentication credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. All API communications use HTTPS with TLS 1.3. The app code is obfuscated in release builds using ProGuard.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of AppFence after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
